Monologues

A good actor always has at least two monologues ready at any given moment especially for an audition. In the case of an audition where they require you prepare a monologue, you want to have two ready because if they dont like your first one and you dont have a second, your done. If you on the other hand have two prepared they you may have a shot at redemption.
When preparing two monos, it is best to have contrasting themes. That is the format for college auditions as well as for some theaters. Its a great way to showcase that you can do more than just one style of acting.
Now the question is, how do you find one?
Well there are a few ways. Probably the best way is to just start reading plays. Trust me you will find one. It takes time but its worth it. By reading the whole play first you get more involved with the show as opposed to just finding it in a book of monolagues. You will get a feel for the character and how they approach things, how they talk and feel.

If you need somthing a bit faster, there is always a compalation book. Just make sure you do reasearch on your character.

Then there is the internet. I would say maybe the last resort in a way. Although you can find some good ones out there. But its hard and far and few between. Here are some pretty nice sites.

http://monologueblogger.com/ (Is filled with tons of monolagues written by the webmaster. While not professional they are still up there in quality)

http://www.dramaticwriter.com/Monologues.html (These are monolagues written by Jason Martin. He is a published playwrite and has some pretty good stuff. )

This list may grow in the future so keep an eye out.

Thats all for now though.

Welcome

So let me start off with a bit of an intro.
As you may have guessed by now, I am very heavily into the performing arts, thus the name.
Therefore I wanted to put together an online resource for many different things involving acting, weather that be film or theater. So I hope you can at least find some of this useful or at least amusing.
